RAIPUR,CG,BHARAT: Raipur Divisional Commissioner Mahadev Kawre on Wednesday expressed strong dissatisfaction with departmental officers and withdrawal disbursement officers over the large backlog of pending pension cases across various departments.
He particularly criticized the School Education Department for failing to make the expected progress in addressing these cases, despite clear instructions from the previous review meeting.
Kawre has asked officials to ensure tangible improvements by next month and instructed that show-cause notices be issued to the departmental officers who were absent from the review meeting.
In a comprehensive review session with divisional officers from departments including Water Resources, Public Works, Health and Medical Education, School Education, Excise, State Tax, Social Welfare, and Agriculture, Kawre closely examined the status of pending pension cases.
He emphasized the need for departments to prepare pension cases at least six months before an employee’s retirement. These cases should be promptly sent to the Treasury Accounts Pension Office to address common issues such as name corrections and document uploads in a timely manner.
He urged officers and withdrawal disbursement officers to accelerate the resolution of pension cases at their level. Stressing accountability, he declared that ensuring the timely and accurate disbursement of pensions to retiring government employees would be the personal responsibility of withdrawal disbursement officers. He asked officers to take proactive measures to rectify any errors in pension cases and ensure their resolution without delays.
Additionally, the Commissioner issued strict orders to address pending Early Withdrawal Refund (EWR) cases under the implementation of the old pension scheme without further delay.
Kawre warned that failure to demonstrate progress by the next review meeting would result in disciplinary action as per regulations against the responsible officers, including withdrawal disbursement officers.
To streamline the process, he reiterated that corrections in documents or personnel property records of retiring employees should be handled by withdrawal disbursement officers at their respective levels.
