RAIPUR: Internal discord in the BJP has surfaced during the organizational elections in Chhattisgarh, with incidents of clashes reported in Raipur, Gariaband, Pendra, and Jhakharpara.
A meeting of Mandal workers at Phundahar Community Hall turned chaotic when disagreements arose over the announcement of Bhimvan Nishad as Mandal President. Protesters, opposing the appointment of a turncoat, disrupted the meeting, breaking chairs and staging demonstrations against MLA Motilal Sahu.
In Mana, BJP workers openly protested against the MLA, voicing anger over the selection of a former Congress member as Mandal President. Alleging favouritism, workers staged a dramatic protest by lying in front of MLA Sahu’s car. Later, they reached the state BJP office to lodge complaints with senior leaders, even raising slogans against the MLA. Heated arguments ensued between workers and the legislator.
At Gariaband, BJP altered the name for Mandal President, sparking discontent. After initially naming Umashankar as President, the organization replaced him with Bhagwano Behera, leading to protests from supporters at Jhakharpara.
The announcement of Manjulata Harit, daughter-in-law of senior BJP leader Bhagwat Harit, as Mandal President triggered an uproar at Fingeshwar. A physical altercation occurred when workers expressed support for Mukesh Sahu instead.
In Marwahi South, of Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi district, Hemchand Marabi’s appointment as Divisional President faced backlash, with workers accusing the party of side-lining other contenders. A video of the dispute later circulated on social media.
