RAIPUR,CG,INDIA: The Urban Administration and Development Department, Chhattisgarh, has instructed employees of the Revenue Department to go door-to-door for property tax collection and encourage citizens to make payments online. To support the effort, the government has extended the deadline for submitting property details and tax payments in urban areas by 30 days. The new deadline is now April 30, 2025, instead of the original March 31, 2025.
The extension was granted because municipal employees were occupied with various government responsibilities, including the Lok Sabha elections, delimitation of urban bodies, voter list revisions, and local body elections. These duties affected the revenue collection process, prompting the government to provide additional time for tax submissions.
Meanwhile, Zone 2 Commissioner Dr. R.K. Dongre conducted a surprise inspection at the Zone Office at 10 AM. During the inspection, 24 employees were found absent despite not being assigned any fieldwork. As a disciplinary measure, the Zone Commissioner ordered a one-day salary deduction for all absent employees.
Similar issues of absenteeism have been reported in other municipal offices. Despite previous instructions for timely attendance, employees continued to ignore the orders. The Commissioner has issued strict warnings, and salary deductions have been ordered for several officials, including assistant-grade employees, accountants, record keepers, revenue sub-inspectors, assistant revenue inspectors, and helpers.
Zone incharge Suryakant Rathore has taken the matter seriously and issued orders for the salary deductions. Employees have been warned that further negligence will lead to stricter action.
