RAIPUR,CG(INDIA): The intense summer heat is beginning to take a toll across Chhattisgarh as temperatures soar past 42°C in most areas. By afternoon, it’s becoming difficult for people to step outside, and the weather is expected to get even harsher in the coming days.
While brief showers had brought some relief recently, that too has stopped since Sunday. The Meteorological Department has warned that heatwave conditions may develop in several districts soon. Among the hottest areas so far are Bilaspur and Rajnandgaon, where the mercury has climbed the highest.
Interestingly, while most regions are dealing with extreme heat, Sukma district experienced heavy rainfall. Light rain, along with thunder, gusty winds, and cloud cover, may occur at one or two places across the state due to western disturbances forming a trough across central India. The department advises people to take precautions against heat stroke in the coming days.
