RAIPUR,CG(INDIA): Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai has directed officials of the Public Works Department to speed up infrastructure development with a strong focus on quality and efficiency. In a review meeting at the Ministry (Mahanadi Bhavan), he emphasized the need to complete roads, bridges, and building projects within set timelines while ensuring durable construction and smooth traffic flow, especially on national highways.
Highlighting the importance of technology, the Chief Minister instructed the use of Artificial Intelligence and modern techniques to quickly identify and repair damaged roads. This, he said, would ensure faster maintenance and minimize disruption to public movement. He stressed timely construction of overbridges and underpasses, especially on bypasses and ring roads near cities, and recommended building them on expressway standards to enhance road safety and speed.
The CM laid out a five-year roadmap for infrastructure development, directing that major road and bridge works must be completed within 18 months after land acquisition. He urged better coordination with the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and called for the appointment of dedicated senior officers to oversee major projects. The state aims to complete road projects worth ₹30,000 crore over the next three years, with priority given to works already allocated in the budget.
Sai asked for rapid processing of estimates, DPRs, and tenders to kickstart projects without delay. He also instructed officials to implement strict protocols for the maintenance of bridges and culverts, with systems in place for their timely repair and upkeep.
Particular attention was given to strengthening roads in mining regions and the Bastar division, where better connectivity is crucial to integrate remote forest areas into the development mainstream. He directed that ongoing construction of roads and bridges in these areas be accelerated.
On amenities for government officers and travelers, the Chief Minister instructed the modernization of circuit and rest houses, ensuring they meet present-day standards with improved cleanliness and upkeep.
During the review, officials reported that 95% of the work on the new Assembly building in Naya Raipur has been completed, while 60% of the new Raj Bhavan construction is also done. A total provision of ₹106 crore has been made this financial year for road safety improvements, including black spot and junction upgrades to reduce road accidents over the next five to six months.
