Minor girl kills father, arrested

JASHPUR, CG (INDIA): In a deeply disturbing incident from Jashpur district of Chhattisgarh, a 15-year-old girl has been taken into custody for allegedly killing her father. The incident occurred in the Baghbahar police station area and has shocked the local community.

According to Superintendent of Police Shashi Mohan Singh, the victim, a 50-year-old man, was known for returning home in an intoxicated state and regularly assaulting his wife and daughter. The repeated domestic violence had reportedly taken a serious toll on the girl’s mental state.

On the night, around 9 PM, the man returned home drunk and started another argument. His wife was away visiting her parental home, leaving only him and the daughter at home. The quarrel escalated when the father physically attacked the girl, prompting her to strike him with an axe kept in the house. He died on the spot due to the severe head injury.

Police received information about the incident the next day. Initially, the girl claimed that her father had been attacked by an unknown person and ran to the neighbors for help, crying for assistance. However, inconsistencies in her statement led police to question her again. When confronted in the presence of her mother, she admitted to committing the act.

The police have recovered the weapon used in the attack. The girl was produced before the Juvenile Justice Board on Friday, and further legal action is underway.
