Govt mandates use of e-office for all official correspondence

RAIPUR, CG (INDIA): In a significant move towards digital governance, the General Administration Department (GAD) of Chhattisgarh has issued a directive mandating the exclusive use of the e-office platform for all official communications. The order, signed by Chief Secretary Amitabh Jain, has been circulated to the Chairman of the Board of Revenue, heads of all departments, divisional commissioners, and district collectors across the state.

According to the circular, all inter-departmental correspondence, notices, and official file work must now be processed through the e-office system. Departments that have not yet fully integrated the e-office system are permitted to use e-mail communication temporarily. However, hard copies of original documents, such as demi-official (DO) letters and legal papers, may continue to be sent in physical form where necessary.

The government’s push for digital compliance is aimed at increasing administrative efficiency, ensuring transparency, and improving accountability. Additionally, the initiative supports environmental sustainability by reducing the dependence on paper-based communication.

The e-office platform is expected to speed up decision-making processes, minimize delays, and provide a secure and centralized record of communications within the state administration. The GAD has urged all departments to ensure immediate and effective implementation of the directive.
