RAIPUR, CG (INDIA): The Chhattisgarh Government has made a key administrative change by delegating land transfer powers to Registrars and Sub-Registrars. The decision, notified through a Gazette by the Revenue and Disaster Management Department, aims to simplify the land transfer process under the Chhattisgarh Land Revenue Code, 1959.
Earlier, any sale or purchase of land required approval from the local Tehsildar under Section 110 of the Code. Now, under the authority of Section 24, this responsibility has been shifted to Registrars and Sub-Registrars, who are already authorized to register sale deeds. With this change, the process becomes more streamlined, as a separate Tehsildar approval will no longer be necessary.
The new rule applies to cases where any landowner—whether transferring full or partial ownership—executes a registered sale deed. Registrars and Sub-Registrars within their respective jurisdictions will now handle both the registration and land transfer functions.
The move is expected to reduce administrative delays and make property transactions more convenient for landowners across the state.
