Serjin wins silver in Fencing

RAIPUR: R S Serjin from Chhattisgarh won the silver medal in Fencing's individual category at 36th National Games underway in Gujarat.

Chhattisgarh Fencing Manager Akhilesh Dubey said that R S Serjin had won the individual medal in ‘Épée’ category. In the quarter-final he had to clash with co-state player S N. Shiva Magesh to make it to the semi-final.

He defeated Maharashtra player Ajinkya Duhare by 15-10 but in the final lost to Udayveer of Punjab (8-15) to claim the silver medal.

Serjin had earlier represented the country in Junior and Senior Asian Championship, and Commonwealth Games.

State Chef de Mission Dr Atul Shukla, Deputy Chef de Mission Rupendra Singh Chauhan and others have extended greetings for the player.

It is the second medal won by the state. Amitesh Mishra had won a silver medal in the 10,000 metres speed skating event.
