RAIPUR: The Fencing players of Chhattisgarh on Sunday won the silver medal in the Foil event of the team championship of National Games in an event held at Gandhinagar (Gujarat). It is the second medal in Fencing.
Fencing team manager Akhilesh Dubey said that Fencing players Durgesh, K Denny Singh, S. Ning Thouba and Tushar Aher faced Bihar in the quarter final match. State team won by 45-34 to enter the semi-finals. State team won by 45-40 in the semi-final with Haryana. The team lost 34-45 to the Services team to contend for the silver medal.
Meanwhile, on Saturday Amitesh Mishra after winning the silver medal, won his second medal, gold in 1000 metres race speed skating.
Chhattisgarh Sports Minister Umesh Patel congratulated the players for the success of players.
Chhattisgarh has a medal tally of three silver (Two Fencing and one staking) and one gold (Skating).
