RAIPUR: Over the issue of BJP candidate Brahmanand Netam on Monday, Chhattisgarh Congress sought annulling of nomination paper while Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) sought filing of FIR against Congress leader Mohan Markam for revealing name of minor victim girl.
Congress party led by Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee President Mohan Markam at Kanker filed a representation before Returning Officer seeking annulling the nomination of Bhanupratappur by-election BJP candidate Bramhanand Netam. Another representation was handed over to Chief Electoral Officer Chhattisgarh at Raipur raising the same demand.
Both the representation states that, the authorized candidate of BJP has declared no criminal case pending against him in his affidavit filed with the nomination papers. It further states that Brahmanand Netam is co-accused in the case of rape and pushing into prostitution of a 15-year-old girl in Jamshedpur (Jharkhand.) Police chargesheet had named him after the investigation.
It states that as the candidate has filed a false affidavit along with nomination papers by concealing his criminal acts, action be initiated under Representation of the People Act, 1951. He should be disqualified by rejecting the nomination.
BJP leaders filed a complaint with all police stations of Kanker district demanding registration of FIR against State Congress President Mohan Markam under Protection of Childre from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The complaint states that PCC President Mohan Markam has publicly revealed the identity of the victim girl which is an offense under Section 23 (2) of the POCSO Act.
