CG: Tourism Boost through special activities at Tadpathra

Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi,INDIA: The Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi district administration is actively working to elevate tourism in the region. As part of these efforts, special tourist activities were organized at Tadpathra, a well-known destination in Gaurela district.

The event included a training session for the local tourism committee and an interactive experience at Banmanai Nature Camp, which saw enthusiastic participation from tourists and students.

Forty students from Indira Gandhi Tribal University, Amarkantak, joined other visitors for an exciting jungle trek. Chief instructor and environmentalist Sanjay Payasi guided the group along the banks of the Amravati Ganga River, highlighting the district’s rich biodiversity. He introduced them to rare medicinal trees such as Dahiman, Kurkut, Arjuna, Amaltas, Semal, and Year. The trek’s main highlight was the journey from Kamrapathara to the historic Mai’s Pavilion, a site deeply rooted in folklore.

Mai’s Pavilion is renowned for its association with the legendary marriage of the Narmada River. It is believed to be the world's first marriage pavilion, with stone-carved depictions of a grand wedding procession that captivated tourists. Visitors also marveled at the site's waterfall and immersed themselves in its historical and mythological significance.

After trekking and enjoying the waterfall, tourists relished a traditional meal served on Mahul leaves, prepared by the local tourism committee. As night fell, a campfire was organized by the lake at the Gadpathra Mud House, followed by an enchanting paddle-boating experience under the moonlight.

Local Baiga women presented traditional folk songs and dances, encouraging tourists to join in. A storytelling session allowed participants to share their experiences and gain deeper insights into the cultural and historical heritage of the site. The event highlighted the district’s immense tourism potential, with the administration’s efforts not only promoting local attractions but also creating new employment opportunities in the region.
