RAIPUR,INDIA: A delegation of 18 senior officials from the Ministry of Defence, New Delhi, visited Dantewada as part of Study Tour 2025 organized by the National Defence College. The visit aimed to assess various social and economic upliftment programs undertaken by the district administration and police department. The officials praised the region’s progress in women's self-reliance, youth employment, and rehabilitation efforts for Naxal-affected families.
During their visit to the Dannex Factory in Geedam, the delegation reviewed efforts to promote women's economic empowerment. The Nava Dantewada Garment Factory, under the Dannex brand, has expanded to four manufacturing units, providing employment to around 1,200 families. Officials interacted with women workers and appreciated their dedication to financial independence.
At the Naxal-Affected Rehabilitation Center in Karli, the delegation was briefed on the “Lone Varratu” (Homecoming) campaign, which supports surrendered Naxals and victims of violence with housing and employment. Government initiatives are helping them reintegrate into society.
The delegation also visited Education City in Jawanga, where they met students at Saksham-2, a residential school for children with special needs. They were introduced to the Annie Device, a smart learning tool for visually impaired students. Additionally, they observed horse riding training at the Equestrian Training Center and enjoyed a cultural performance by students.
The Nav Gurukul Initiative, which offers free software engineering training, was also reviewed. The 18-month program prepares students for competitive exams like PET, PMT, and IIT-JEE while providing English communication and leadership training.
The delegation commended Dantewada’s comprehensive development model, highlighting its achievements in education, employment, and rehabilitation. The visit was attended by DIG Kamlochan Kashyap, Collector Mayank Chaturvedi, Zila Panchayat CEO Jayant Nahta, and other officials.
