RAIPUR,INDIA: The grand Rajim Kumbh Kalpa Mela has commenced in Rajim, Chhattisgarh, running from February 12 (Magh Purnima) to February 26 (Mahashivaratri). On the first day, devotees from across the state gathered at Triveni Sangam—where the Parry, Sodhur, and Mahanadi rivers meet—to take a holy dip at dawn. Following the ritual bath, crowds thronged the Shri Rajiv Lochan Temple and Kuleshwarnath Mahadev Temple to seek blessings for their families’ well-being.
The revered fair, which has been celebrated for centuries, marks the birth anniversary of Lord Rajiv Lochan. The temple was adorned with lights and decorations, and a new red flag was ceremoniously placed in the temple’s urn. The fair will conclude on Mahashivaratri (February 26), with a grand procession of saints and Naga sadhus, followed by a royal bath at Triveni Sangam.
Often compared to the Prayagraj Kumbh, the Rajim Kumbh Mela is one of Chhattisgarh’s largest religious gatherings, attracting millions of devotees. The event holds special importance for the tribal communities of Chhattisgarh.
The fair features various spiritual and cultural programs, including daily Mahanadi Aarti at 6:30 PM at Triveni Sangam, cultural programs from 4 PM – 10 PM (Feb 12–26) by national and regional artists, Bhagwat Katha of Sanjay Krishna Salil Ji Maharaj (Feb 13–19), and Satsang Darbar of Sant Gurusharan Ji Maharaj (Feb 21–25).
Rajim Kumbh Kalpa Mela serves as a symbol of Chhattisgarh’s rich cultural and religious heritage, offering devotees a unique blend of spirituality, tradition, and devotion.
