RAIGARH,INDIA: A tragic incident of human-elephant conflict occurred in Baraud village, where a 50-year-old villager, Bandhan Rathia, lost his life in an elephant attack. Rathia had ventured into the forest when he was fatally attacked by the wild elephant. His mutilated body was discovered by villagers.
Upon receiving information about his disappearance, locals launched a search operation, eventually finding Rathia’s body deep in the Baroda forest.
Following the attack, the forest department has initiated an investigation. Reports suggest that a large number of elephants have been roaming in the area for the past several days. While the forest department was aware of their presence, the exact location of the herd had not been traced, leading to rising tensions among villagers.
The incident has intensified anger against the forest authorities, as locals demand stricter measures to prevent further casualties.
