RAIPUR,INDIA: Five people lost their lives in a tragic road accident on National Highway-53 near Umaria under the Mandir Hasaud police station area on Thursday afternoon. The accident occurred near Mayur College when a high-speed SUV lost control and collided with an oncoming truck. The deceased include women.
According to eyewitnesses, the SUV was moving at high speed when a sudden tyre burst caused it to veer onto the wrong side of the road. The oncoming truck crashed into the vehicle with force, causing it to be severely damaged.
Police arrived at the scene shortly after the incident and used a crane to recover the bodies from the wrecked car. The vehicle, bearing registration number CG 04 NQ 5063, is registered in Raipur. The bodies have been sent for postmortem, and efforts are underway to identify the victims.
The accident led to a traffic jam on the highway, which was cleared after the wreckage was removed with police assistance. Investigations are ongoing to determine further details about the crash.
