Digital ticketing for unreserved tickets picks up

BILASPUR,INDIA: Digital ticketing is experiencing significant growth in the South East Central Railway (SECR), with more than half of all unreserved tickets now being issued through the UTS Mobile App and Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (ATVMs). This shift has helped eliminate long queues, providing passengers with a seamless and efficient ticketing experience. Additionally, passengers making digital payments via the R-wallet benefit from a 3% bonus, further encouraging cashless transactions.

Leading Indian Railways in digital ticketing, the South East Central Railway issued tickets to approximately 21-22% of passengers through mobile apps between April 2024 and February 2025, securing its position as the top performer in this sector.

The adoption of ATVMs has also seen remarkable progress, with 87 machines installed across 46 stations, allowing passengers to conveniently book tickets using UPI QR payments. This initiative not only enhances convenience but also promotes digital transactions.

To further enhance the passenger experience, new features are continuously being added to the mobile ticketing app, improving functionality and user-friendliness. Travelers are encouraged to make the most of the UTS Mobile App and ATVMs for a hassle-free, paperless, and efficient journey.
