SECL meets annual target before 20 days

KORBA,CG,INDIA: South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) has achieved a major milestone by surpassing 336 million cubic meters of overburden removal (OBR) in the financial year 2024-25, reaching its annual target 20 days ahead of schedule. This marks a significant increase of 32.37 million cubic meters compared to last year and sets SECL on course to break its own record for the highest OBR in its history.

In the previous financial year, SECL had set a record with 321 million cubic meters of OBR, the highest since its inception. However, this year, the company has already exceeded that figure well in advance. Currently, SECL is removing overburden at an accelerated pace of 10-11 lakh cubic meters per day, further boosting its performance.

To enhance efficiency and sustainability, SECL is promoting environmentally friendly, blast-free Vertical Ripper Technology in its large-scale projects. The company has also prioritized land acquisition to support coal production, providing jobs to 764 landowners this year—the highest employment figure in a decade.

With these advancements, SECL is poised to achieve a historic new record in OBR, reinforcing its commitment to growth and innovation in the coal sector.
