JAGDALPUR: Due to falling rocks on Kirandul-Visakhapatnam railway track, the railway administration cancelled all the trains passing on the rail route till July 12 (Wednesday).

The railway administration cancelled the trains on the route when it was found that due to a landslide a boulder had fallen on between Borraguhalu and Karakavalasa in Kothavalasa-Kirandul line, an official communication said.

After the incident, on Monday night the department sent the engineers and other staff with special bogey to clear the debris from the railway track so that the movement of trains on the route can be restored.

Trains up/down no. 18513 Visakhapatnam- Kirandul night express running on track was cancelled.

The railway administration also cancelled train no.08551 Visakhapatnam- Kirandul passenger, leaving on July 11, and 08552 Kirandul- Visakhapatnam passenger, leaving on July 12.

Meanwhile, Train no 18513 Kirandul- Visakhapatnam night expresses, which left Kirandul on July 10, reached to Visakhapatnam through a diverted route via Koraput, Damanjodi, Rayagada, and Vizianagaram, and carried out lots of delay.

The falling of boulders on the railway tracks not only created distress among the passengers, but also halted the movement of goods trains carrying iron ore and other products, which resulted in a mega loss to NMDC which runs into crores.
