Chhattisgarh holds online skill development, motivation session

* To reduce stress, depression among board students

RAIPUR,CG: Government of Chhattisgarh and SCERT to reduce the stress and depression among the class 10th and 12th students under Board of Secondary Education, Raipur on Monday organised an online skill development and motivation training session.

Additional Chief Secretary Renu Pillay said, “We are going to declare the board exam results soon. Students do not need to get disappointed or stressed before or after the declaration of exam results. Parents should also not expect too much from children.”

She said if such a trend is found in any child or any information is received, it can be informed on the toll free number “104 Arogya Seva Free Consultation” of the Health Department. The toll free number will remain operational 24×7. Immediate solutions can be provided in the interest of the students.

School Education Secretary Siddharth Komal Singh Pardeshi said that many children are not able to get results as per expectations. One should not take stress on it. Scoring less marks does not mean that the knowledge is less, there are many personalities who could not score good marks in their childhood but later on they gained a lot of fame.

Sunil Jain, Joint Secretary, Mineral Department, spoke on an experiment in Mahasamund where through a public cooperation based program in every village, the process and implementation of taking the help of volunteers was undertaken.

Subject expert Dr. Swati Sharma gave examples of personalities who had challenges in their early life but were successful later also. For example, Bill Gates, Albert Einstein, Thomas Edison. She said that children should always be encouraged, and the family environment should always be positive. The children should not be compared with other children and quality time should always be spent with children.

Psychiatrist of Medical College Raipur, Dr. Preeti Singh said it has been seen many times that the results of children who get good results get spoiled. Such children are not able to accept their results, and they suffer from stress. Sometimes they feel frustrated even when compared with their elder brothers or sisters.

Career Counselor Dr. Varsha Varvandkar said in her address that career counselling is important for the students. She said that at present there are more than 5,000 career options for children and there is a great need to develop 21st century skills in children.

Additional Director J.P. Rath said after the examinations, children become stressed and go on the wrong path. It is important to manage stress.

For the first time in Chhattisgarh, the efficiency development training program is being organized to identify and control various depression and other life-threatening problems arising in students due to examination results and to develop a monitoring system through society, parents, volunteers and teachers.
