Commissioning of EVMs for Surguja, Raigarh completed: Dy CEO

RAIPUR,CG: Commissioning of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trails (VVPATs) has been completed in Surguja and Raigarh Lok Sabha constituencies where the polling will be held under the third phase on May 7.

Briefing media on Tuesday, Deputy Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Chhattisgarh Vinay Agrawal said that the Commissioning of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trails (VVPATs) has been completed in Surguja and Raigarh Lok Sabha constituencies and commission of the EVMs and the VVPATs is underway in Janjgir-Champa, Korba, Bilaspur, Raipur and Durg Lok Sabha constituencies.

Total 1,176 complaints regarding violation of model code of conduct have been received through cVigil, in which actions were taken on 827 complaints. 342 complaints were dropped and remaining seven complaints are under process, said Vinay Agrawal.

Total 2,754 applications regarding the publicity have been received so far, in which 2,444 applications were approved and 227 applications were rejected. Remaining 83 applications are under process.

18,311 postal ballots have been received by April 29.

73,720 banners, 1,17,420 posters, 1,41,815 wall writings and 1,00,022 other materials were seized.

Rs 7.17 crore cash, 51,804.51 litre quor worth Rs 2.23, 12,934.51 kilogramme drugs worth Rs 25.71 crore, 161.27 kilogramme precious metals worth Rs 15.98 crore and freebies worth Rs 166.03 crore have been seized from January 1 to April 29, said he added.
