CG NEWS: Prohibitory order issued on tube well mining

MAHASAMUND,CG: Chhattisgarh’s Mahasamund District Collector Prabhat Malik on Thursday has issued a restrictive order on tube well mining till further orders to ensure the availability of drinking water.

The order has been issued in exercise of the powers conferred under the Chhattisgarh Drinking Water Preservation Act. Till further orders, no new tube well can be dug for drinking water or for any purpose other than drinking water without the prior permission of the competent authorized officer.

But government, semi-government and urban bodies will not require permission for digging tube wells in the areas falling within their jurisdictional limits for drinking water. But the prescribed rules will have to be followed. For the concerned areas, permission will have to be taken from Additional District Magistrate, Urban and Sub-Divisional Revenue Officer, Mahasamund, Bagbahra, Pithora and Saraipali.

The work of borewell mining or borewell repair will be done only by a registered borewell agency. If any person or agency is found mining a tube well in violation of the said Act, action will be taken against him. The order has become effective immediately.
