RAIPUR: Polling stations of Raipur decorated in different themes

RAIPUR,CG: The polling stations of Raipur city in Chhattisgarh on Tuesday were made in a special theme with aim to create awareness among the voters on different issues.

In certain booths, trampolines for voters’ children and at other places there were selfie points. Besides, the benches installed in the queue, the luxurious waiting room and the arrangement of drinking water attracted the voters a lot. Tarun Tiwari, after observing the decorations and arrangements here, said that he did not feel that he had come to any booth, that too to vote. There is such a wonderful atmosphere as if a festival is being celebrated. Shubham Chandravanshi says that it is good. Everything is going smoothly.

The view of the polling station located in Forest Colony of North Assembly is different. Here in the polling booth a glimpse of Chhattisgarhi dialect and culture was visible. When modern resources were not available, in Chhattisgarh, on marriages or important occasions, decorations were done with plants and leaves of trees. It was also decorated in the same way. To welcome the voters, the welcome message 'Chunai Tihar ke Bera mein Parghavat Han' was written in Chhattisgarhi dialect at the reception gate of the polling station. It was decorated with Ashoka, Chitavar and Salfi leaves. Once inside, the voter waiting room was named Thirai Ke Thiha and was decorated with Chitavar leaves. The selfie point was given the form of a hut. It is believed that Chitawar leaves provide coolness, hence Chitawar leaves were also used for providing shade.

The medical examination centre was called the place of medicine. Besides, benches were also installed for voters to sit in all the polling booths.

At B P Pujari School, the concept was water conservation with emphasis on conserving the rain water.

In another booth, it was underlined to save tap water. Satpal Singh, a resident of Ravi Nagar, said, “I had come here to vote and it was nice to see the theme of water harvesting in the polling booth. This is inspiring us to save water. We all should install water harvesting systems in our homes. It is our social responsibility to save water and utilize it properly. The theme will definitely inspire voters to save water.”

The polling station located at Sihawa Bhavan was built on the basis of India's space mission. The main door depicts the Satellite Launch Vehicle while the selfie point depicts the GSLV launch. A kids zone was also created for children to play. BP and sugar tests were done in the District Panchayat polling centre, while arrangements for coolers were also made.

The people also utilised the services of the ‘Divyang Rath’ for the elderly above 80 years of age and the differently able voters. The vehicle could be called on phone number and WhatsApp. The pick and drop facility was provided.
