NAGARNAR: NMDC Steel Limited (NSL), a key public sector enterprise under the Ministry of Steel, marked its second anniversary. The milestone was celebrated at the Nagarnar Steel Plant, where top leadership reflected on the company's accomplishments and its role in shaping India’s steel industry.
Amitava Mukherjee, CMD (Addl. Charge), alongside NSL directors V Suresh (Commercial) and Vinay Kumar (Technical), highlighted NSL’s rapid growth.
Notable achievements include the first Hot Metal production just days after the Blast Furnace Blow-In in August 2023, followed by 1 million tonnes of Hot Metal production in only 226 days, and reaching 1.5 million tonnes by July 2024.
NSL’s Nagarnar plant aims to ramp up production, targeting 210,000 tonnes of Hot Metal and 150,000 tonnes of HR Coil by Q3 FY25. With monthly production at 125,000 tonnes of HR Coil, NSL is nearing its break-even point.
Mukherjee expressed confidence in NSL’s future, aligning its goals with India’s vision of producing 300 MnT of steel by 2030. NSL's commitment to inclusive development in Bastar, alongside its contributions to national infrastructure, underscores its mission to build India's steel future with ‘Ispati Irada’.
