RAIPUR,CG,BHARAT: Jindal Panther Cement (JPC), a part of the Jindal Group, has commissioned its first cement grinding unit with a capacity of 1.5 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) at Angul, Odisha. The advanced facility will use approximately 1 MTPA of blast furnace slag from JSPL’s Angul integrated steel plant, operating with the industry’s lowest clinker factor. The initiative is a key step in the group’s decarbonization strategy, positioning JPC as a leader in low-carbon cement production.
The Angul Grinding Unit plays a vital role in JPC’s mission to deliver low-carbon, high-quality Portland Slag and Composite Cement to Central and Eastern India. By recycling waste from JSPL’s steel operations, the facility reduces emissions and promotes sustainable practices in the industry. It aligns with JSPL’s broader decarbonization goals, advancing the group’s vision of a sustainable future.
JPC is set to increase production capacity at Angul and Raigarh to 7 MTPA, with an investment of INR 2,160 crore. The expansion will enhance its position in the cement market, providing sustainable materials to meet growing infrastructure demands in the region.
As part of an integrated approach, JPC’s cement and JSPL’s rebar will be distributed together under the ‘Jindal Panther’ brand. The unified distribution model will simplify procurement for individual homebuilders (IHBs), offering a comprehensive solution for construction needs with a focus on quality, convenience, and competitive pricing.
JPC’s CEO, Rohit Vohra, commented, “The commissioning of our Angul Grinding Unit is a major milestone in our journey towards sustainability. Our low-carbon cement and innovative distribution strategy uniquely position us to support Eastern India’s infrastructure growth while contributing to a greener planet.”
