RAIPUR,INDIA: Under the organization elections of BJP in Chhattisgarh, elections for the state president and 17 members of the National Council will be held on January 17. On the day, election officer Vinod Tawde appointed from the national organization will reach Raipur and the election process will be completed in his presence.
Voting for the post of state president of BJP will be held on January 17. It is not yet clear whether the current president Kiran Dev will be re-elected or a new face will emerge. If Kiran Dev is included in the Sai cabinet, a new president will be appointed. Possible names include Dharamlal Kaushik, Vikram Usendi, Shivratan Sharma, and Vijay Baghel.
Election of National Council members will also be held on the day. 17 members will be elected from Chhattisgarh. These will include the Chief Minister, Ministers, MPs, MLAs and senior BJP leaders. 17 names will be decided through an opinion poll, whose formal announcement will be made after filing the nominations.
The members of the National Council will play an important role in the election of the National President of BJP. Along with voting, they will also act as proposers and seconders. One and a half times i.e. 17 members are being elected on the basis of 11 Lok Sabha seats of Chhattisgarh.
The BJP's organization elections are already going on in the state. So far, 35 out of 36 district presidents have been elected. In the last phase, the state president and members of the National Council will be elected.
