RAIPUR,INDIA: Chhattisgarh Labour Minister Lakhan Lal Dewangan on Friday transferred ₹31.81 crore directly to the bank accounts of over 78,000 workers through DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer) at his residence office in Shankar Nagar, Raipur.
The initiative is part of ongoing efforts under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai to provide continuous benefits to the state’s labourers and their families.
The event was attended by Additional Labor Commissioner S.L. Jangde, Secretary of the Labour Welfare Board Abhishek Pandey and other officials.
Labour Minister Dewangan emphasized the government’s commitment to the welfare of workers, highlighting schemes aimed at uplifting labour families. He announced that from the upcoming academic session, children of labourers will be admitted under the Atal Utkrisht Shiksha Yojana, with all expenses covered by the government. “A labourer’s child should not remain a labourer but should aspire for a better future through education,” he remarked.
It was noted that this is the fifth installment transferred to workers’ accounts under the government’s welfare initiatives. Since September 17, 2024, on the occasion of Vishwakarma Jayanti, when Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai initiated the program, ₹430.03 crore has been disbursed to 3.26 lakh workers across the state through various schemes.
The government has been implementing these initiatives through the Chhattisgarh Building and Other Construction Workers Board, Organized Workers State Social Security Board, and Labour Welfare Board, ensuring timely and effective benefits to the labour community.
