Police incinerated seized 23,000 kg cannabis

RAIPUR,CG,INDIA: Chhattisgarh police has incinerated the seized narcotics mainly cannabis (Ganja) from districts of Mahasamund, Baloda Bazar, Gariaband and Dhamtari districts falling under Raipur range.

A total of more than 23,000 kg of ganja was destroyed by the police under the NDPS Act.

The destruction operation was carried out as per the call from the High Level Drug Disposal Committee constituted by the Police Headquarters, under the orders of the Ministry of Home Affairs and Narcotics Control Bureau.

Raipur Range Inspector General of Police Amresh Mishra led the team, while Senior Superintendent of Police Dr. Santosh Kumar Singh and Dhamtari Superintendent of Police Anjaneya Vaishnav were also present. Electricity was produced by burning the hemp in the furnace of a private power plant located in Siltara, Raipur.

22,631 kg ganja in 443 cases in Mahasamund district, 224 kg in 5 cases in Baloda Bazar, 328 kg in 8 cases in Dhamtari, and 309 kg ganja in 16 cases in Gariaband were destroyed legally after the permission of the Public Safety and Environment Department.
