World's Tallest Bamboo Tower inaugurated in Bemetara

BEMETARA,CG,INDIA: On the occasion of World Bamboo Day, Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari virtually inaugurated the world’s tallest bamboo tower, located in Bemetara district of Chhattisgarh.

The bamboo tower, constructed by Bhavya Srishti Industries in Kathiya village, stands 140 feet tall, weighs 7,400 kilograms, and was built at a cost of approximately Rs 11 lakh. Designed to resemble the Eiffel Tower in Paris, it was constructed by Ganesh Verma, founder of Bhavya Srishti Udyog and a specialist in bamboo technology.

During the inauguration, Minister Nitin Gadkari praised Bhavya Srishti Udyog's ongoing research and innovation with bamboo. He highlighted the lightweight nature of the 140-foot-tall tower, which has a lifespan of at least 25 years, and its potential use as a watchtower, telecom tower, transmission tower, and radio tower. Gadkari emphasized that Bhavya Srishti Udyog is constantly working on new designs and concepts for bamboo products, and he assured full support for their initiatives.

Gadkari also urged the Chhattisgarh government to develop policies promoting bamboo use, which he believes could improve the livelihoods of tribal communities. He suggested that new designs in Chhattisgarh’s handlooms, handicrafts, and metal crafts could thrive in the market. He further recommended establishing a design centre to create innovative bamboo-based furniture and products, potentially boosting exports from the state.

Chhattisgarh Assembly Speaker Raman Singh, speaking virtually, expressed pride in the newly constructed 140-foot tower, calling it an honour for the state. He congratulated all those involved with Bhavya Srishti Udyog, noting that the startup is deeply connected to the land, farmers, and forest dwellers of Chhattisgarh. The inauguration was also attended by MP Vijay Baghel and MLAs Deepesh Sahu and Ishwar Sahu.

Ganesh Verma, founder of Bhavya Srishti Udyog, shared that his company’s products are recognized by institutions such as the National Automotive Test Tracks, Central Building Research Institute, Indian Railways, and Indian Road Congress. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways is actively promoting this eco-friendly solution by launching trial projects to install bamboo crash barriers over hundreds of kilometres in 25 states. These trials, set to begin in the coming months, will evaluate the potential for widespread bamboo crash barrier installations, which could benefit farmers, boost the rural economy, and contribute to environmental sustainability.
