RAIPUR,CG,INDIA: Farmers from Chhattisgarh have achieved significant recognition in the field of sericulture, receiving the prestigious Best Achiever Award for excellence in Tussar worm rearing and threading. The award was presented by Union Minister Giriraj Singh at the 75th Foundation Day celebration of the Central Silk Board in Bengaluru.
The Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Vishnu Dev Sai, extended his congratulations to the sericulture farmers, officers, and employees of the Village Industries Department for their outstanding contribution to the state's sericulture sector.
Yashwant Kumar, Secretary-cum-Director of Village Industries, expressed pride in the achievement. He shared that the department recommended two exemplary farmers for recognition: Santosh Kumar Dewangan from Village Seoni, Janjgir-Champa district, for Tussar threading, and Ganesh Ram Sidar from Village Bar, Sarangarh-Bilaigarh district, for Tussar vermiculture. Their success stories, along with documentation, photographs, and videos, were submitted to the Central Silk Board for evaluation.
The Village Industries Department (Silk Division) of the Government of Chhattisgarh facilitated the participation of these farmers in the Platinum Jubilee celebration of the Central Silk Board. Both farmers were honoured for their exceptional work in sericulture, marking another milestone for Chhattisgarh's contribution to the Tussar silk industry.
