Chhattisgarh Rajyotsava 2024: Closing ceremony: Dhankar lauds Chhattisgarh’s progress, cultural heritage

RAIPUR,CG,BHARAT: At the closing ceremony of the Chhattisgarh State Festival, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar praised the state for its vibrant culture and rapid development, declaring, ‘Chhattisgarhiya Sabse Badiya’.

He highlighted the state's rich natural resources and youthful energy, noting that Chhattisgarh, often called the ‘Rice Bowl of India’, is playing a key role in India's national growth.

The Vice President also expressed concern about the alarming rise of faith conversions through deceptive means, urging vigilance against such activities. “Selfless service should not be manipulated for ulterior motives,” he said, emphasizing the importance of preserving India’s cultural integrity. He particularly cautioned against the exploitation of tribal communities, who are often targeted by these deceptive methods, urging society to remain alert.

Dhankhar underlined the deep connection between state and national progress, asserting, “The growth of a state is the growth of the nation”. He praised Chhattisgarh's administration for its focus on good governance, robust law enforcement, and a new industrial policy aimed at inclusive development. The state, he said, is setting new benchmarks through administrative transparency and effective policymaking.

The Vice President also spoke directly to the youth, advising them not to be misled or waste their potential. Reflecting on the state's formation in 2000, he credited former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee for his visionary and skillful leadership in creating Chhattisgarh, Uttarakhand, and Jharkhand. “Atal Ji's long-term vision ensured a peaceful and harmonious separation”, Dhankhar noted.

He further emphasized the need to honour India's freedom fighters, especially during ‘Amrit Kaal’, and acknowledged the contributions of great leaders like Subhas Chandra Bose, Birsa Munda, and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The Vice President also highlighted the importance of the Constitution, urging the youth to understand its foundational role in shaping India's future.

Referring to recent developments, Dhankhar celebrated the Women's Reservation Bill, which reserves 33% of legislative seats for women, including those from marginalized communities. He praised Chhattisgarh for its progressive politics, noting that the recent elections saw a record number of women, especially from Scheduled Castes, elected to the State Assembly.

In closing, the Vice President applauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s efforts to bring about this monumental change, asserting that it will have a lasting impact on society and empower women in policymaking. He gave away the state awards to eminent personalities on the occasion.
