RAIPUR,CG: Chhattisgarh Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs, Tokhan Sahu, in a meeting held on Wednesday at Nirman Bhawan, New Delhi, directed OSD (Urban Transport), Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Jaideep Kumar to explore the possibility of developing Mass Rapid Transit Corridor in the state of Chhattisgarh.
During the meeting, the Minister stressed the need to explore various transportation options including metro, monorail, rapid rail and cable cars. The objective of the initiative is to increase connectivity between the three major industrial cities of Chhattisgarh, Durg, Bhilai and Raipur. The Minister directed to prepare a comprehensive mobility plan for these three cities soon.
The Minister emphasized that the establishment of Mass Rapid Transit Corridors will boost employment, providing health care, education and employment opportunities to the people in these cities and surrounding areas.
The state government will be directed to prepare and submit a detailed proposal for further evaluation and consideration by the Union Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry.
